An introduction to comedy writing for performance with an emphasis on storytelling. First of all, not all comedy performance is stand-up. Second of all, in this class, you will come prepared with rough materials to workshop through a variety of methods, explore new approaches through exercises, and even *gulp* perform a little comedy within the safe confines of your workshop class. Not only will you have an opportunity to receive guidance from a working comedian, Meghan Welch, you'll have a chance to explore methods of comedic writing in a variety of approaches.
A recommended reading and supply list will be sent out before the class. You will also receive instructions on preparing a little comedic material for the class.
Instructor: Meghan Welch is a working (and traveling) comedian based out of Wichita, KS. She's a tattooed rebel raising a kid in a crazy world and she has plenty of stories and anecdotes from along the way. Meghan has dazzled crowds at comedy clubs and independent venues all over with her playfully dark and silly sense of humor which she uses to observe social norms, parenting, and her dog and best friend, Gary.
